Wrexham A.F.C. headed to Atlantic Canada to play Wanderers in International Summer Series

Fans of the Welcome to Wrexham docu-series are in for a treat as the Halifax Wanderers confirmed the Welsh club as their opponents for the upcoming International Summer Series.

As part of the series, which was launched in 2023 to pit Halifax's youth players against overseas competition, Wrexham and the Wanderer's U-21 squads will faceoff in three matches spread across Atlantic Canada. The first of the three match series — starting on July 5 — will be played at the Wanderers Grounds.

“Wrexham A.F.C. has become a truly global brand and is one of the fastest rising clubs in world football so we are thrilled to welcome them to the Maritimes this summer,” Halifax Wanderers founder and president Derek Martin said.

“Our goal is to help grow this beautiful game across our region so we are excited to be visiting Saint John for the first time and to bring a little bit of Hollywood to the Wanderers Grounds.”

The other two locations include Charlottetown, P.E.I., and Saint John, N.B.

Wrexham recently secured promotion to the English Football League Championship, their third promotion in three years.
