Wanderers sign former League1 Ontario Golden Boot winner Reshaun Walkes

The Halifax Wanderers announced last week that the club had signed former League1 Ontario Golden Boot winner Reshaun Walkes to a contract through 2025, with options for 2026 and 2027.

Walkes, 25, was previously selected in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC. The Brampton-native spent two seasons with Toronto FC II in MLS Next Pro, registering 15 goal contributions, before moving to League1 Ontario.

He joined Vaughan Azzurri — Wanderers head coach Patrice Gheisar's former club — in 2024, scoring 18 goals in 20 appearances to secure the Golden Boot. Walkes then moved to Simcoe County Rovers in 2025 with former Wanderer Doneil Henry, who serves as their head coach.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure coaching Reshaun as he embodies all the qualities you look for in a player destined for the next level: talent, discipline and an unwavering commitment to growth," Henry said via press release.

“His dedication is a testament to what’s possible when you believe in the journey, and his progression to the Canadian Premier League (CPL) will undoubtedly inspire his teammates and show them what it truly takes to reach the next level.”

Walkes made his CPL debut on Saturday during Halifax's 1-0 loss to Forge FC.
