Sources: Wanderers set to sign Dutch midfielder Sven Zitman
The Wanderers are adding to their midfield as the club is set to announce the signing of 23-year old Dutch pivot Sven Zitman, sources told HFX Football Post on Thursday.
Zitman, from Schiedam, Netherlands, joins the Wanderers following time with clubs such as TOP Oss, PEC Zwolle and Feyenoord. He joined Feyenoord's youth academy in 2018 and went on to make appearances with the club's U-17, U-19 and U-21 sides. Later, he made the jump to Zwolle, where he made 11 appearances in the Dutch second division before moving on a free to TOP Oss. Zitman registered 49 appearances throughout his career in Keuken Kampioen Divisie.
Standing 5-foot-7 (174 cm), Zitman is adept at playing throughout the midfield. However, sources noted the 23-year old is most comfortable as a No. 6. With several midfielders already under contract, including Lorenzo Callegari, Isaiah Johnston and captain Andre Rampersad, it remains to be seen how head coach and general manager Vanni Sartini will deploy Zitman. Previously, Sartini had noted the possibility of a midfield three with two box-to-box players and a holding midfielder.
