Sources: Vancouver FC set to ink Paris Gee to new two-year deal

A familiar face will be back with the Eagles as veteran defender Paris Gee is set to ink a new two-year deal with the club, sources told HFX Football Post on Friday.

Gee, 31, moved back home in 2024 following a career that saw the Burnaby, B.C., defender come up through the Vancouver Whitecaps academy. From there, he played university football before making professional stops in Croatia and the United States. He also previously suited up for FC Edmonton and York United FC (now Inter Toronto).

The defender was a consistent contributor for both head coaches Afshin Ghotbi and Martin Nash last season. He finished the year with 29 appearances across all competitions, playing 1,426 minutes while scoring one goal in league play.

Gee’s signature is the first of many player moves as Vancouver FC assemble their roster ahead of an exciting Concacaf Champions Cup tie versus Mexican giants Cruz Azul. The Eagles qualified for the continental cup thanks to their magical Canadian Championship run which ended with them as runner’s up in the competition.

The Eagles are set to host Cruz Azul at Willoughby Stadium on February 4 before traveling to Mexico for the second leg on the 12th. Vancouver FC will have to work quickly as training camp is expected to open in January.

The tie represents the first time Vancouver FC will play in a continental tournament.
