Sources: Atlético Ottawa set to sign midfielder Kamron Habibullah
Atlético Ottawa are looking to add another piece in midfield as the club is set to sign 22-year old pivot Kamron Habibullah, sources told HFX Football Post on Wednesday.
Habibullah, who was born in Uzbekistan but grew up in Vancouver, B.C., joined the Vancouver Whitecaps academy as a 12-year old and went on to later play for the first-team. He also joined Canadian Premier League side Pacific FC on loan from the Whitecaps, making 14 appearances in 2022.
With the expiration of his Whitecaps deal, Habibullah later joined Sporting Kansas City's MLS Next Pro team in 2024 before making the jump to Sweden's Superettan, which is their second-tier. Now, Habibullah is set for a return to Canada to help Atlético Ottawa defend their North Star Cup.
A versatile midfielder with the ability to score (he tallied 15 goals and seven assists in 44 MLS Next Pro appearances), Habibullah is capable of playing further up the pitch in an attacking role or sitting deeper to help with the build up.
